Episode 19: The Body of a Greek God

pilgrim

In what could conceivably be our famed co-host Chris Piner’s last episode before his departure to the United States Marines, the boys talk about the many documentaries that they’ve been watching lately before diving into Edgar Wright’s new and highly-anticipated movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.  Also, in light of Chris’s likely departure, Chris makes his monetary predictions for all of the films we will review for the rest of the year.  Will his predictions be spot-on, or will they be as close as mile markers?  Keep listening to find out!

Episode 18: The Rowdy Roundup Comeback Special

inception

After an enormous and uncalled-for hiatus of over three lengthy months, the boys make their long-awaited return to round up all of this summer’s hits and misses.  They also bring it all in with a couple of in-depth reviews of the summer’s biggest blockbuster so far, Christopher Nolan’s new head trip Inception.  Also, be warned that in the third segment, we give away major spoilers for Inception while discussing different theories and interpretations about the ending.  Finally, Chris rounds up all the info he soaked up from this years Comic-Con coverage.

Episode 17: Freeballin’ In The Free World

iron-man-downey-jr2

With only the voices of Handsome John and Sweet Baby Ray to sooth your eardrums this week and in light of the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 coming out the following week, the boys go retro and review the original 2008 Iron Man.  They also discuss their expectations for the new Iron Man film and they top off the episode with an original segment straight out of the mind of Mr. John Buck himself - a dramatic reading of Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” from 1986’s Top Gun.

Episode 16: A Nightmare On Peachtree Street

a_nightmare_on_elm_street_2010_1200x499_577306

After stumbling over some simple linguistic limericks, the boys catch up with some recent film news, then they attempt to offer some insight on the recent Kevin Smith film Cop Out and the new remake of the classic horror film A Nightmare On Elm Street. Lacking the world-renowned wit of Mr. Buck, there is no “Brainless Blurbs” segment this week, but the boys do give us a taste of what’s to come in the future of the podcast.

Episode 15: The Wicked Witch of the (Kanye) West

kickass

Finally broadcasting with a full house once again (mister Kevin Vance included), the boys continue to improve the podcast while talking about the new box office chart-topping letdown Kick-Ass and its competition for the week, the star-studded remake of Death at a Funeral.  Also, this week’s “Brainless Blurbs!” competition gets a little heated when Raymond loses the lead to a worthy adversary…listen to find out how it goes!

Episode 14: Shakin’ In My Nike’s

wallstreet

Joined once again by their comrade Kevin, the boys defy their very nature and instead of reviewing a new release, they give us a “retro review” of the classic 1987 Oliver Stone film Wall Street (a money movie in lieu of of April 15, a.k.a. Tax Day).  Mr. Buck also gives us a few insights on the new film Our Family Wedding, and the charts begin as they start to keep score on this week’s Brainless Blurbs!

Episode 13: How To Potty Train Your Dragon

dragon

Lacking the charm and few hundred pounds that are Chris and Stranger Danger, the boys are joined by avid fan and listener Kevin (a.k.a. K-Dog) as they discuss Dreamworks’ new animated feature film How To Train Your Dragon. Aside from trying to decide how devastating dragon feces would be (or are), they try to determine whether this flick is worth all the hype it’s been getting. They also incorporate a new segment entitled “Brainless Blurbs” where Handsome John rounds up some of the short movie descriptions from the listings on his satellite TV service, and the rest of the boys try to decipher what movies they are describing. Although this time they don’t tally up the points, in the future they will keep track of everyone’s points and the loser will be physically penalized each month.

Episode 12: The Black Guy From Vantage Point

titans

Rejoined by the long-legged and sharp-witted Chris Piner, he brings word that Repo Mean, starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, is the number one movie of 2010 so far. The boys also talk about the new 3D blockbuster extravaganza Clash of the Titans and conclude whether or not it’s earning all the money it seems to be making.

Episode 11: The Good One (a.k.a. Twin Freaks)

leaves

After taking a week off, the boys return (lacking their fanciful co-host Chris) to talk about a few of last year’s overlooked movies, including Moon, with Sam Rockwell playing two different characters, and Leaves Of Grass, with Edward Norton playing two different characters.  They also try to determine why movies about the Iraqi War seem to do poorly at the box office these days.  Any ideas?  Let us know!
